The Last Resort was founded in 1999, after scouting the Nepal-Tibet border area intensively for the perfect place to build an adventure resort. The present location, on top of the steep Bhote Kosi River gorge, was finally chosen because of the almost unlimited possibilities for many kinds of adventure sports and its tremendous natural beauty.

We built a 160-meter high suspension bridge as the spectacular entrance to the resort to link up a remote area with the Kathmandu-Lhasa road. Previously the locals had to walk 5 hours to reach the nearest bridge.

Next a huge variety of plants and trees were planted to landscape the resort surroundings and we built an open dining hall using local materials and labor. We chose safari tents as accommodation to give our guests the simple luxuries of sleeping in a comfortable bed while enjoying the sounds of nature.

The Last Resort since continues to improve and expand its facilities and services. We now offer sauna, massage and a plunge pool and a wide range of activities like hiking, canyoning, bungy jumping, canyon swinging, mountain biking, rafting, kayaking, rock climbing and teambuilding. With all operations we always makes sure that the local community profits too.

The Last Resort is set amidst sprawling terraces, suspended on a high cliff-top gorge above the wild Bhote Kosi River and surrounded by dense jungle and pristine forest. Limited access across our purpose built bridge guarantees privacy in this magnificent area.

The grounds of the resort are meticulously landscaped and luxurious safari tents are spaciously set in lush gardens to ensure guests a quiet and peaceful stay in an exotic setting.

Service & Facilities - The Last Resort

Uniquely crafted in local stone, wood and slate, the resort has an intimate dining hall with centuries old wood-carving where delicious home style food is served. The well stocked Instant Karma bar is a great place for having chilled drinks when the day is done and you are left thirsty.

The Last Resort is the perfect place for exciting adventures and complete relaxation. A beautiful 3-hour ride away from Kathmandu, the resort is located on top of a green river gorge close to the Tibetan border. The natural splendour and peaceful resort surrounding will inspire and soothe your soul.

Come to The Last Resort to quench your thirst for excitement and the desire to escape into a foreign land, full of adventure. We'd love to see you and share our piece of paradise.

Bungy Nepal is operated at The Last Resort and located 12 km from the Tibetan Border in Nepal. Bungy Nepal was set up by Kiwi David Allerdice and Nepali Bishnu Neopanae. Together they scouted the area for a long time to find the perfect location for the 166 meter long and 160 meter high suspension bridge. The bridge was finally built in three months and the first jump took place in 1999.

Two new partners have since joined the company, Australian Pat o’Keeffe and Dutch Sam Voolstra. The company has 50 staff members, the majority from the local area. They were trained by international experts and together run two offices, one resort, the bungy and swing operation, canyoning and hiking. We work together with Ultimate Rivers and HMB for rafting and mountain biking.

Before the construction the local villagers had to walk five hours to cross the river gorge. The building of the bridge has a positive impact on the development of the local economy and infrastructure.

Tired and stiff from traveling or trekking? We could have the perfect solution. Spend a day or two lounging at the plunge pool, enjoying the sauna and reading a book in a hammock. Our resident massage therapists from The Himalayan Healers Project offers sessions to further relax those muscles you may have recently discovered.

The Last Resort, surrounded by mountains and filled with soothing river sounds, is a perfect place to completely unwind and leave the hustle and bustle of big Asian cities behind you. Colourful birds and butterflies keep you company in the exotic garden and short strolls take you through rice fields and forests. Swim in a waterfall, pick nick on the river bank or just do nothing at all!
